The new SFA Instructors Application are available in my office located adjacent to the auditorium on the 1st flr in the HQ building. It is in the form of a padd device and the questions are given to you (whispered in chat). Please, when answering each question begin your answer with "/9" as in:
/9 this is my answer. This puts your answer on channel 9 and not in public chat so that the padd is the only one to "hear" your answer. This helps to ensure your privacy.
I do need each division chief to be responsible to make sure at least 1 officer from each subdivision teaches a division entry class once a week. All divisions are responsible for their own training course and test as only the leads of each division know what level of knowledge they would like each new member to be at once joining their division. So for example, if I am lead of building division and I feel that upon entering my division, you should know how to use all of the interface controls, including rezzing, hollowing, linking, texturing, then my entry course should cover that information. The test questions should come from the course content you taught. The length and difficulty level is up to you.
Intermediate and advance level courses can be taught by anyone from any division as long as have knowledge of what they are teaching. These classes are also eligible for sl instructors to receive payment if they follow certain guidelines.
For sl Instructors only:
1. Classes must be approved by the Lindens. Please send me a notecard with the name of the class, and what the students attending will learn.
2. The class topic must be pg rated
3. Class attendance must be at least 5 students
4. The class must be available to all sl residents. These will be advertised in events.
5. You may teach classes as many times as you wish. Only 2 approved Linden classes will be paid per day.
Examples of classes that can be taught at beginning, intermediate and advanced level are Second Life Basics, Building, Scripting, Texture Design, Group Tools, Land 101, Using the Second Life Interface, Starting a Business, How to use Animations, Avatar Customization, Intro to Particles, event planning, how to use photoshop, etc
If you are not currently an sl instructor and would like to be, here is the link to apply for it:
secondlife.com/community/volunteer.phpTo be eligible to apply you must:
Have been in-world for at least two months
Have and maintain a relatively clean Linden Rapsheet
There is no real application to fill out, as long as you meet those requirements there is a "apply now" link found on that webpage. Once you click on the link you confirm and thats it. The lindens are notified that you are interested in applying for SL Instructor. Give them about 3 weeks to send you an email of approval. You will also be invited to be a member in the Instructors group in game. You may want to have 1 group available in your profile to accept membership. I do encourage all members to apply for sl instructors if they are eligible. If you do not want to be paid for the classes yout each please still apply for sl instructor and please donate the 500L to Galaxy.
Please IM me in game if you have any questions.
I look forward to working with all of you.
