As the new Commadant of the Academy I would like to let everyone know what they can look forward to. The reason The Admirals, myself and all the other senior officers are here are
because YOU are here. YOU are what makes up StarfleetCommand Second Life Quadrant. YOU have decided to volunteer your most precious commodity, your time, for the benefit of all the members of Starfleet.
I will be actively recruiting officers to be educators at least one from every single subdivision. This will be for the cadet program first and foremost, but also for higher learning levels of education. I want you all to look at the reality of it all. Some high ranking officers cannot do some of the basic operations, dont have beginning or intermediate level skill even.
CADET PROGRAM
Cadets are cadets for 2 weeks. During the 2 weeks they participate in events and get a feel for the group more to help decide what career path they want to use. After weeks they may take the cadet training and test at the end of the class. Those passing with a "C" or better promote to Ensign. The new ensigns may now report to their chosen division and can take the division entry test administered by the division lead or chief. Some divisions may give more than one class for the cadets as it may be more to learn before they can be actively doing the duties of that division. That is up to each lead officer what they feel the cadets should know by the time they are able to perform full duties as Ensign. After passing the test they can continue to train hands on with observation or work on projects with the rest of the sub division.
There will be a graduation ceremony held for the cadets as well.
Lead Officer, please send me:
To all leads and chiefs and admirals who will teach:
What will I expect of you? Simple, treat the students not as an inconvenience to your time spent teaching at the Academy, but the REASON for your time at the Academy. Give them respect,
give them help, give them fairness. When they need help because the real world has intruded on our version of reality, be understanding. When they get questions wrong, either show them the correct answer, or guide them in the right direction so they can understand, and when they succeed – tell them, make a big deal about it, and watch them grow, and come back, and teach just as you have.
Finally, let’s understand something right from the beginning…
All of you fine officers make the Academy what it is is. Made up of one intensely diverse, knowledgeable and talented staff you have all given your time, passion, and sweat to make Galaxy
what it is today. Look at this place. Once flat land in space now a
great society with over 300 members all because of you. So keep up the good work, have fun, and remember my door is always open to the fine men, women, and other genders of the Starfleet Academy.
Thankyou
