Good evening all!
Today we had an incident in Galaxy of a rogue prim almost crashing the sim.
This seems to be part of a larger issue of lacking consideration in the work we do and I feel it needs addressing.
Whilst stood in the plaza I began to hear a repeating noise running in the sim which seemed to be getting worse, after some time it did not stop so I had to put a general message out asking for it's removal. After this did not happen it transpires it was a self replicating object designed to make a noise every time it replicated. Ultimately this lead to a near crash of the sim and a total disruption of it's operation.
Having evacuated the sim & removed the prim with the owner of it, I decided the best action was to make a statement on here asking everybody to think before they act!
Although this was an accident & I have discussed it with the owner of the object who is going to stop work for the moment on any similar projects I think we need to all stop & think about our actions.
Recently people have been either ignoring or forgetting the basic rules of the sim and it's getting beyond the point of acceptability. If you are going to do something that may cause issues, stop & think whether it's really worth it and whether it could impact on other users. You may like your new gesture, but not everybody will if it spams the area with noise, it may be a cool rocket launcher, but in a no weapons sim it's not right, and so on.
If anybody has any question or comments on what I've said, please respond.
Many thanks
