I will be holding a small memorial service in McCoy Park in remembrance of the founder of all the things we most enjoy in life.
The service will be held at 3pm SLT in McCoy Park on the 24th October 2006. All those wishing to attend please congregate in the park 5 minutes before the hour. I will be making a small speech which will be followed by a two minute silence in Galaxy as a mark of respect for Gene and his family.
If anyone has any concerns or objections then please let me know.
Cancelled Until Further Notice

That a great idea. StarTrek certainly has brought lots of joy to my life. even in re-runs. I would like to invite members to share in this tread, special moments they remember where trek touch their life.
I remember 2 right off.
1) In 2002 I worked two jobs, day and evening. I remember the joy each night rushing home to watch voyager, with my husband who would wait up for me. it was our time of the day to do something together. Very special times indeed, my husband past away at a young age in 2003.
2) Took my nieces and nephews to a 1st day opening of one of the ST movies. They were ages 8-12, the ushers were in trek uniforms which excited the kids so. The kids, one was killed, 2 have finished college, 1 is in college and 1 has a f/t aero space job. And they all still love star trek till this day. smiles.

The verry first time I ever saw Star Trek. I was in Arazona, and watching TV at my Moms friends house around 2 am. I was about 7 years old and I fliped to a channel that was playing Star Trek First Contact. I started watching right when Picard was having his dream at the begining. Scared the crap out of me and I couldnt sleep for a few days. But now I love Star Trek and that movie. And my eyes still hurt when i see that part...

Good lord...My first memories of Star Trek. Well, I suppose it came from my older brother, who learned about it through my cousin.
I first remember seeing Star Trek the motion picture when I was 4 or 5 ( I can't really remember its been so long). But I do remember seeing V'Ger attack the Klingon's and for some reason I was scared lifeless, I hid under the covers literally, but I always loved Mr. Spock.
Then there was the unforgettable experience in the drive-in theatre to see Star Trek VI when it first came out, my god I was so happy. And I simply loved every bit of the movie.
I guess you can all Imagine my emotions when I heard that Star Trek(VII): Generations was coming out on the big screen...
