[15:56] Andromeda Quonset: Item 2: By the request of Fleet Admiral Katrina Bixby, Research has done some preliminary work towards addressing transportation issues for Galaxy.
[15:56] Andromeda Quonset: Some of the work is dependent on the final build of the construction area, but we will do what we can until the construction is further along.
[15:56] Andromeda Quonset: We favor a combinational approach of teleport stations, rail-less train-like transit, and air transit.
[15:56] Andromeda Quonset: I would like to point out that due to one of the Second Life updates, many teleporters all over Second Life were giving problems, and it was several days before an update was issued by Linden Labs to correct what they broke in the update.
[15:57] Andromeda Quonset: I mention this in order to justify that it is sometimes necessary to rely on means other than teleporters.

[15:57] Andromeda Quonset: Many people have suggested converting all turbolifts to being teleporters, and this is a good example of why we don't want to depend on teleports alone, but have a combinational approach which gives us something to fall back on.
[15:57] Andromeda Quonset: Jim Foxley is currently working on this project.
[15:57] Andromeda Quonset: Item 4: Afalota Cummings is currently liason between research, and other divsions/subdivisions.
[15:57] Andromeda Quonset: His job is to offer the services of the research subdivision to other divisions and subdivisions, as well as take requests.
[15:57] Andromeda Quonset: Item 5: The Research subdivision is temporarily quartered in the Sato Center, on the second floor.
[15:58] Andromeda Quonset: You may drop notecards for me, or the subdivision, into the PADD on my desk.
[15:58] Andromeda Quonset: Item 6: If you have a project suggestion, or any other inquiry, the research subdivision prefers that you put it on a notecard, and put it in the PADD on my desk.
[15:58] Andromeda Quonset: This helps with formalizing our projects, and keeping projects from getting lost or forgotten, buried in one person's inventory.
[15:58] Andromeda Quonset: Or sent as an IM and never being documented at all, depending on one person's memory.
[15:58] Andromeda Quonset: Also, please remember to put your name in the contents of any notecards, and rename the notecard to something other than "New Note".

Its a new thing that i am trying

[16:14] Dolamite Giffen: In the johnathon archer building in galaxy
[16:14] Dolamite Giffen: It was discussed that a need was required for Role-Play Counselors to be trained in their RP duties. DG felt that the Counseling Sub-Division should be involved in this training. There was concern that the Department's involvement in 'training' RP Counselors could blur the lines with the training for actual SFC Counselors, and that some people might not be able to differentiate between the two.
[16:14] Dolamite Giffen: I have made Joy Waverley a Morale Officer she is tasked with posting items on the SFC forum to provide a light entertainment and boost morale.
[16:15] Dolamite Giffen: We also discussed.. the issue of SFC Officers that divide their time between SFC and other Trek related groups. He thought that in taking both on, the officer was at risk of burning out and then leaving.
[16:15] Dolamite Giffen: DG stressed that SFC was losing too many experienced officers that were leaving, rather than resolving their situations. Unfortunately, when the people leave, they have tended to sow seeds of discord rather than leaving quietly, this has then had a tremendous negative effect on SFC as a whole.
[16:15] Dolamite Giffen: DG said that they were leaving because they were losing the fun, getting distressed and losing RP potential. RA suggested that this proved that there was a real need for Counselors to be appointed, and hopefully we could then be able to diffuse situations such as this.
[16:16] Dolamite Giffen: So with that said....our division is stepping into combatting this head on...
[16:16] Dolamite Giffen: I wanted the Counselors to encourage and motivate, with positive ideas and solutions, to get out and make the Department known, and spread positive energy.
[16:16] Dolamite Giffen: We are on all kinds of topics but we are dedicated to the Individual. I am dedicated to the overall group health, and any problems or concerns you have direct them to myself or any other counselor/counselor intern.

[16:16] Dolamite Giffen: Ludo has mentioned that the classes that we are offering should be done this week, so i will have an update of classes taught by counseling next meeting.

There will be three courses, which will help with this. Learning the frequently used words in especially divisions, but also general used words and short cuts.

[15:56] Andromeda Quonset: Item 2: By the request of Fleet Admiral Katrina Bixby, Research has done some preliminary work towards addressing transportation issues for Galaxy.

[15:56] Andromeda Quonset: We favor a combinational approach of teleport stations, rail-less train-like transit, and air transit.
[15:56] Andromeda Quonset: I would like to point out that due to one of the Second Life updates, many teleporters all over Second Life were giving problems, and it was several days before an update was issued by Linden Labs to correct what they broke in the update.
[15:57] Andromeda Quonset: I mention this in order to justify that it is sometimes necessary to rely on means other than teleporters.

[15:57] Andromeda Quonset: Many people have suggested converting all turbolifts to being teleporters, and this is a good example of why we don't want to depend on teleports alone, but have a combinational approach which gives us something to fall back on.

[15:57] Andromeda Quonset: Item 4: Afalota Cummings is currently liason between research, and other divsions/subdivisions.

[16:14] Dolamite Giffen: It was discussed that a need was required for Role-Play Counselors to be trained in their RP duties. DG felt that the Counseling Sub-Division should be involved in this training. There was concern that the Department's involvement in 'training' RP Counselors could blur the lines with the training for actual SFC Counselors, and that some people might not be able to differentiate between the two.
[16:14] Dolamite Giffen: I have made Joy Waverley a Morale Officer she is tasked with posting items on the SFC forum to provide a light entertainment and boost morale.
[16:15] Dolamite Giffen: We also discussed.. the issue of SFC Officers that divide their time between SFC and other Trek related groups. He thought that in taking both on, the officer was at risk of burning out and then leaving.
[16:15] Dolamite Giffen: DG stressed that SFC was losing too many experienced officers that were leaving, rather than resolving their situations. Unfortunately, when the people leave, they have tended to sow seeds of discord rather than leaving quietly, this has then had a tremendous negative effect on SFC as a whole.
[16:15] Dolamite Giffen: DG said that they were leaving because they were losing the fun, getting distressed and losing RP potential. RA suggested that this proved that there was a real need for Counselors to be appointed, and hopefully we could then be able to diffuse situations such as this.
[16:16] Dolamite Giffen: So with that said....our division is stepping into combatting this head on...
[16:16] Dolamite Giffen: I wanted the Counselors to encourage and motivate, with positive ideas and solutions, to get out and make the Department known, and spread positive energy.
[16:16] Dolamite Giffen: We are on all kinds of topics but we are dedicated to the Individual. I am dedicated to the overall group health, and any problems or concerns you have direct them to myself or any other counselor/counselor intern.
