[15:24] Picard Maladay: YAHOOOO CLAPITNG
[15:25] Vanessa Noarlunga: Science report 12 Dear Fellow Officers and fellow beings.
[15:26] Vanessa Noarlunga: as usual I will cut and paste slow me down if i go to fast..and becasue I am doing this report from a labtop at the airport in wellington NZ I am lagging like crazy so bear with me
[15:26] Vanessa Noarlunga: Let me use this opportunity today to address a few issues. I was approached by a fellow officer who complained about Linguistics, Q Pedia and the other projects I am running. Now I won’t say who it was and that officer and every one else can always come and voice their opinion and suggestions as communication is the most important part of this, or any group.
[15:26] Vanessa Noarlunga: One issue that person stated was that neither Linguistics nor QPedia or the Lag department is Canon and can not be found in the Star Trek Universe.
[15:27] Vanessa Noarlunga: As a rule of thumb, the events that take place within the live-action episodes and movies are canon, or official Star Trek facts. Story lines, characters, events, star dates, etc. that take place within the fictional novels, video games, the Animated Series, and the various comic lines have traditionally not been considered part of the canon. But canon is not something set in stone; even events in some of the movies have been called into question as to whether they should be considered canon! Ultimately, the fans, the writers and the producers may all differ on what is considered canon and the very idea of what is canon has become more fluid, especially as there isn't a single voice or arbiter to decide. Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry was accustomed to making statements about canon, but even he was known to change his mind.
[15:27] Vanessa Noarlunga: SFCSLQ is not a canon organization. The best analogy is we are a Star Trek Theme park. United under the common goals and interests of Star Trek and Science Fiction. There are no furries in ST, there is no Air Corps. Yes the same person questioned the Air Corps too, but by being diverse by having furries and robots, dragons and what not, by having all these divisions and departments we live the very core of ST CANON: Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations !SFCSLQ is not a canon organization. [15:28] Vanessa Noarlunga: I love to have a CANON SIM I really do and there is no reason why we as an Organization can not be big enough to have a CANON department/ Division where everything is trek and those hard core fans can live out their dreams and meet their expectations.I love to have a CANON SIM I really do and there is no reason why we as an Organization can not be big enough to have a CANON department/ Division where everything is trek and those hard core fans can live out their dreams and meet their expectations.I love to have a CANON SIM I really do and there is no reason why we as an Organization can not be big enough to have a CANON department/ Division where everything is trek and those hard core fans can live out their dreams and meet their expectations.

[15:29] Xantin Olejniczak: (Is there an echo in here...?)
[15:29] Vanessa Noarlunga: Linguistics was formed and conceived to give non English speaking members better access to the organization. What is wrong with that? Star Trek is a philosophy of acceptance and diversity, in a Future where all man kind, al beings can live together not judged by origin, size , color, religion race or language. Second life is on the internet and our Organization features members from many countries all over the globe and not everyone speaks English, so again I am asking why it is a problem to have a department that reaches out and translates? [15:29] Dolamite Giffen: you are double posting..
[15:29] Talon Lardner: ((not from my seat))
[15:29] Vanessa Noarlunga: sorry must be the lag/ connection
[15:29] Warren Holt: please slow down abit, theres enough here for a novel still far up reading
[15:29] Vanessa Noarlunga: asking why it is a problem to have a department that reaches out and translates?
[15:29] Vanessa Noarlunga: Q-Pedia: We have 600+ members (true some are double accounts but even if that would be the case for every member we still had over 300 members.) that is a huge number…but how many do you see online and active all the time…? Less than a 100 ..the rest is idle , gets bored and eventually looses interest. Q Pedia is one projects (of many to come) to give an alternative to scripting and building and to role play. Not everyone can script, not everyone wants or can build… If I can do something to reach out to those members standing on the side lines and make this an organization where everyone can feel part of a greater whole and have fun doing it…why not?
[15:30] Vanessa Noarlunga: ANTI LAG: true there is no LAG research to be found in star trek, but there is science and technology and research. Almost every episode shown features someone solving a problem by using science, pseudo science and research to solve a problem. LAG is the biggest plaque and annoying factor in SL (and other MMRPG’s) Some told me there is nothing that can be done, and it is a useless Endeavour. After three month of LAG research I learned a lot about it and my LAG research team collected information and found concepts and ideas that are serious enough that we raised interest at SUN Systems and Sysco Systems RL World computer and system companies who approached US to share our research and offered assistance to help. What is wrong with that?
[15:30] Vanessa Noarlunga: I am aware that there are those among you who don’t like me, but that is okay, If I be liked by everyone I quit SL and run for president…with that power I sure get elected. Thanks to Samael Enigma I actually met with who I considered one of those who didn’t like me and we talked and guess what? We both shook hands and are on the way to become friends.
[15:30] Vanessa Noarlunga: I had a Department meeting last week with almost all my Science department leads and I realized how proud I am , how blessed I am to have such dedicated, talented and awesome people working with me. At this point I like to thank my science department members for being the best group I have ever been part of! There is no doubt in my mind I have the very best assistant any one could have: Picard Ludo, how more intellectual intelligent and professional can you possibly be?
[15:31] Vanessa Noarlunga: Andromeda Quonset, you look in the Webster for Dedication, most likely you find his picture. Xantin, we had our differences yes… but that is long past and he is not only a dear friend, he is professional as it gets, detail oriented, dedicated and very good at what he does.
[15:31] Vanessa Noarlunga: Antonio Bergbahn, he took an idea of mine and made a paper napkin sketch into a Technicolor reality. Afalotta took on a problem anyone said it is impossible to solve.... and made more progress than anyone could possibly imagined… Antonio Bergbahn, he took an idea of mine and made a paper napkin sketch into a Technicolor reality. Afalotta took on a problem anyone said it is impossible to solve.... and made more progress than anyone could possibly imagined…
[15:31] Picard Maladay: picard ludo ?
[15:31] Vanessa Noarlunga: Hugh Dench a new comer to SLQ, took the Linguistic department and made it an active, orderly group that contributes much. Melon Edelweiss, he too took an idea and concept and is forming it into a well liked activity group. My new Counseling Lead: At first I must admit I was not very happy with the choice made, and I am guilty as many others for being blind …mainly because I had Ludo who I thought is irreplaceable. I was wrong, he had big shoes to fill and instead of being afraid of the shadow... he knelt in it and convinced me very fast he is the right man for the job. Sorry Dolamite for doubting you. thank you for being a new friend I am proud to have.
[15:31] Picard Maladay: MALADAY
[15:31] Picard Maladay: lol
[15:32] Vanessa Noarlunga: I am standing in attention for you my fellow Officers!!!! You makeme the proudest sci chief there was and will be
[15:32] Andromeda Quonset claps
[15:32] Vanessa Noarlunga: I am sure I forget someone very important….but thank you , thank you for being more than a group but a circle of friends. As for the actual report: Science is humming along and everything is quite good! Since there are rumors : yes we are getting a new SIM. But to cut the rumor mill short here are the facts: Yes I pay for it, but it will eb completely owned by Cobramax and the SIM. I have no control over it. There are no strings attached to the Island/SIM ..it is a gift from me to ALL of you , not one individual. Yes there are some plans on how it might take shape but please let’s discuss that when the bird is killed..the entire project is in the works.
[15:32] Picard Maladay: CLAPING
[15:32] You: hear hear
[15:32] Xantin Olejniczak claps.

It is a non official science department only webs site that will be a test bed for new information technology such as pod cast and video lectures etc. anyone with good IT, Html, Java or Flash skills is welcome to join the WEBDEV group under Samael. [15:22] You: they are not to be pestered or bothered with unsolicited advice wile they are busy
[15:23] You: you can understand the need for them to focus
[15:23] You: if your trying to build something, i think you know what i mean
[15:23] You: ok, next report
[15:24] You: from Science Chief, Lt Vanessa Noarlunga

[15:32] Warren Holt claps
[15:32] Vanessa Noarlunga: I am welcoming Samael Enigma in the Science Department. She will be working on a science department web site development team . It is a non official science department only webs site that will be a test bed for new information technology such as pod cast and video lectures etc. anyone with good IT, Html, Java or Flash skills is welcome to join the WEBDEV group under Samael.
