Orientation Program

Personnel's next event will be an orientation program for new members. I had a chance to speak with a few lead officers all of which gave positive feedback on participation. What I would like to have covered is:

Brief history of Starfleet, now that you are in, now what to expect, each lead officer tell about their own division, current projects, goals and needs, answer any questions pertaining to their division, meet the Admirals with remarks and what is it that they look for to award them a rank increase, information on regular scheduled events and Academy classes, social life(Quarks) and living on Galaxy, vending information and a personal testimony to relate to how it was being new to Starfleet and how you became the person you are today to relate to their situation on a personal level.

If there is another topic you feel should be included, please post your ideas here. I am aiming for May 27th at 12 noon. I am asking for all leads, Chiefs and Admirals to participate so please post here or IM me in world and let me know if this is not a good day for you. If majority cannot make this date I can reschedule it.

Ick! That's the opening days for the pools at my work, and I'm probably going to end up cashiering or doing registration. If it was later in the day (after 5pm SLT), then it might work, but not at noon SLT.

Cinfull - I was planning my next lecture to be on what to do after the Acadamy... There might be some overlap here. I had planned to meet with each of the department heads do discuss the information that they wanted included. I might be simpler for one person to give the talk than to try to get everyone of the leads to be available at the same time... Let me know what you think. I plan to go ahead with the lecture anyway but it might make sense to combine the two ideas.

Sounds great look forward to the event. Ideally the activities division would be the one to contact for scheduling events on the sim. So that time and efforts are not duplicated.

The lead of activities is not expected to manage a sim calendar but at lease arrange for a staff member to do so.

Squarmire is having a R5 expo to day SAT. 2pm on the sim, we may need a large event calendar that can be viewed by all.

We want full participation at all of the groups events, but if they over lap, that will not happened.

Activities and and logistics may need to meet to discuss the making of a calendar.

Good suggestion Fadm Katrina on the calendar, it is much needed. Zed, I would love to coordinate something with you since it sounds like we are headed in the same direction. The discussion in the general meeting brought up by That, was to show new members how to use the weapons and devices so that would save time at tactical, for example. The thought was to do this at orientation. Maybe weapons lead can do that portion as their division presentation or I can. Or if lead for weapons shoe them how to use weapons, I can show them how to use the rest of the devices, like the death shield, the team communicator, how to set yourself to run and how to move in mouse-look.

Zed as far as the approach you are taking like having each lead tell you what they want included and you would talk about it, actually it was my original plan so that it was easier in scheduling. But I decided to ask some leads if they would interested in talking about their division and some were really excited to do that. It gives them a chance to meet the new members and also say exactly what they are looking to accomplish. But I am sure not all will be able to make it or maybe not all want to talk at the orientation. I think that would be great to do for the divisions that cannot make it . Zed I would like to combine the lecture with orientation so lets talk about it in world! ;D
