Above is an excerpt from the 7th general meeting . As personnel officer I would like to voice my feeling on new applicants. I feel all the suggestions were great and are valid. I will approach this 2 ways, from a personal view and from a starfleet command officer's view.

When I first joined starfleet I didn't know what was expected of me. I filled out the application and forward it to Fadm Bixby and just hoped for the best. When I got a response within 1 day or less, I felt relieved and welcomed as I received so much support from both Fadm Bixby and Adm Mechanique from the quick response of my application to the support and encouragement given in tactical training. It was the acceptance with open doors and the support in tactical that can retain and make a quality member. In turn I will do my best to get an application with an invite to that prospective member within 1 day of requesting to join to help alleviate that problem of numerous requests to join. Details will be worked out and will be updated as soon as they are available.

As from the starfleet command point of view why not just quote the way things were done on the the actual starfleet as my resources come from this website:http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Starfleet_Academy#Training_Vessels

I will just quote from a paragraph for quick reference:

Entrance into Starfleet Academy begins with the acceptance of the 'hopefuls' application. Once the application is accepted, the 'hopeful' undergoes the Academy entrance competition exams, which are determined by the best score among a group of candidates competing to gain admission. In 2364, one such location for these competitions was on Relva VII. The exam contains sections on hyperspace physics and dynamic relationships, among others. As well as the infamous "psych test", where the prospective cadet must face their greatest fear, unannounced tests can take place at any time during the exam period (TNG: "Coming of Age").

Not all 'hopefuls' make entry into the Starfleet Academy their first attempt, however, if their scores are high enough in the competition they may be eligible to reapply the following year. If the results of the reapplication are sufficient they will be accepted into the Academy (TNG: "Menage a Troi").


At least applications were accepted then the applicant had to pass the academy after the academy was passed they went onto tactical training. If change is wanted in the application process may I suggest we vote for the changes to the application process if permitted.

I think we need something like a Star Fleet prep. The fist thing all "hopefuls" must complete. this will fill them in with all that is happening in SF-SLQ

I know when i first joined, for the first couple of weeks I was always wondering what to do.
Being the type who dives right in without checking the depth, I just started doing things. Even today I still don't know all the "right" things, I learn by doing. Some simple intro classes would be great.

The classes would be short and only touch on subjects. The primary focus would be to introduce some of the jargon we use, what we do at certain planned events and what there is do at Galaxy, such as services needed. They would also direct the new recruits to whom they should contact to get more information or get more involved.

If you decide to do something like, please do not hesitate to call on me for help.

Thanks Al, you made some very helpful suggestions. The only way to address concerns and improve on different parts of our organization is to hear experiences and constructive critism. If you had a chance in the personnel feed, I stated what I thought personnel should be handling such as a orientation for each new applicant. In the orientation it would include information on our organization, what they should be doing, like an overview of Starfleet, its divisions and officers. It would also include ID photo taking, a tour etc. I have done all of those things in rl and I see the benefits of it. I see that you and I are on the same page and appreciate your offer to help. I will be sure to contact you once we have sorted things out.

I, too, would like to help out with this...both from the Activities section perspective, and from my own perspective as a newcomer here. I'd be delighted to run a weekly in-sim StarFleet Orientation session. If you folks could come up with some content as a starting point, I'm always up for pestering people with questions that can lead to filling any gaps with additional material. <evil grin>

Great! Happy to have members post and want to help out with personnel. I really could use the help in coordinating different events for the new applicants. I will put you down as interested in helping out the personnel division for Al, Ariel and Talon. Glad to have you and Ariel aboard Starfleet as well. Once I am ready to have things rollin I will send you all a message in-game. If anyone else is interested in being a part of personnel division please post it below and I will request to have you added to the division.
