In regard to the spaceless, lower-case usernames

That Mann commented on this problem in another post, but I thought I would reference it here. It’s a trivial problem, yes, but I’m sure there are others besides That Mann and myself who would like to see the change.

I think you would need to change the restrictions for username creation to allow spaces as well as both upper and lower cases. Allowing numbers or special characters isn’t necessary, I think. Those of us who already made a username can create a new one after the restrictions are lifted, and the old username can be purged from the database. This seems like the easiest method to me (well, besides filling the correct name in on a guest post), but there are other ways of accomplishing this goal.

I was wondering, in most other forum interfaces there is a method of changing one's profile, which includes a display name of sorts. I've looked under profile but didn't find any option like this, or even how to add an avatar. Perhaps I'm missing the link... Any suggestions?

Actually, Olivia, you can change how your name appears on the forum. Simply click on the profile menu at the top, and then on Modify Profile. There, you will find a field to change how your name is displayed on the forums.

It won't change your login, but it'll at least suffice. ;-)

nice... I was looking for the modify profile option the other day and must've missed it. I'll blame my ineptitude on my lack of sleep at the time
