It saddens me to hear this. Zander proved himself to be a strong advocate for justice and was a credit to the JAG corps. He will be missed.

The following is the chat log from the Memorial Service for Zander Uralia, April 15, 2007, 2:00pm slt(pst) it has been edited to show only the chat from the service itself:
[14:07] Vanessa Noarlunga shouts: good afternoon everyone and welcome to this most solemn occasion. Please everyone find a seat [14:08] Vanessa Noarlunga shouts: I also ask everyone to refrain from running scripts. talking or making sound emotes. We will commence the ceremonial in 2 minutes [14:09] Vanessa Noarlunga shouts: Admiral Cobramax please [14:23] You shout: Dear fellow Officers and members [14:24] You shout: this is a most solemn occasion [14:24] You shout: Death is a part of life and all that lives must at one point come to an end. No one is promised a certain amount of time, and tomorrow is promises to no one. It is not the amount of time we spend on this plane of existence and awareness but the quality in which we as individuals, communities, groups and humanity as whole fill the time given. [14:25] You: We perceive time and life as linear mono directional process with a clear defined beginning in birth and a clear defined ending in death. Thus many religions and philosophies link the process of living to a journey, a journey through time. [14:25] You shout: We perceive time and life as linear mono directional process with a clear defined beginning in birth and a clear defined ending in death. Thus many religions and philosophies link the process of living to a journey, a journey through time. [14:25] You shout: From the dawn of human existence the mystery of life and death have preoccupied our civilization as a whole like no other subject ever has, as it is absolutely fundamental and the only guarantees given in our existence. This subject spawned religions, philosophies and traditions and as manifold our cultures are, so are the ways cultures and groups deal with this subject. [14:26] You shout: SFCSLQ is a distinct group of individuals united by a common denominator of Star Trek and its underlying philosophy of common good, tolerance towards others and a positive outlook to the future, where individuals may perish but the spirit and idea as whole never dies. [14:27] You shout: Born out of a TV series, something normally neither associated with long-lived, philosophy or cultural impact, Star Trek had a tremendous impact upon society if compared with other forms of media or fictitious serialized events. [14:27] You shout: It had and has endured against all odds and there seems to no near end in sight. SFCSLQ patterns its group structure after a distinct organization within the Star trek universe: Star Fleet. [14:27] You shout: Star Fleet in this fictitious future takes its traditions from mostly Terran naval sources, namely the US and British Navy, right down to the way weddings, funerals and any other military tradition is conducted, [14:28] You shout: with of course variations reflecting the futuristic nature. Today we are gathered to pay our respects to Zander Uralia who was a valuable member of this group who shared this dream with all of us. [14:28] You shout: Now let us hear from his commanding officer and friend Ludo Merit: [14:29] Ludo Merit shouts: Zander Uralia was a StarFleet Officer and a Vulcan. He not only upheld the ideals of StarFleet; he lived out the highest Vulcan ideal, the IDIC, Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. [14:30] Ludo Merit shouts: The IDIC requires respect for other beliefs and ways of life. Though Zander was not a Christian, he changed out of his StarFleet uniform out of respect for a Christian shrine he visited in SL. [14:30] Ludo Merit shouts: The IDIC calls for cooperation among all sorts of people. Zander encouraged that sort of cooperation as a counselor, and also when he was chairing planning meetings for the Judge Advocate General's office, JAG. Before he was appointed lead he held several meetings, always insisting that each of us should have an equal voice in the planning. [14:31] Ludo Merit shouts: The IDIC requires that people help each other freely, each person contributing their greatest skills and seeking help with lesser skills. Zander joined Counseling, the subdivision devoted to helping all of us have fun. He was always willing to help others, guiding newcomers through the Galaxy maze, helping them with applications. At the same time he was willing to ask for help. I helped him proofread his JAG proposal. [14:31] Ludo Merit shouts: The IDIC encourages people to combine their ideas freely, without ego, to produce results that no single person could produce. Zander showed us how to do that when he built a proposed JAG courthouse. He was very proud of his first build, and I admired the design. [14:32] Ludo Merit shouts: I built a structure with half the prims. I kept most of Zander's design, but replaced his large, many-columned porch with two columns and two semi-circular steps. I was afraid he wouldn't like the simpler porch. He took one look and said, "Yours is better; we'll use it. I love the steps!" [14:32] Ludo Merit shouts: The diversity of StarFleet Command suffered when Zander left, and the diversity of Second Life and First Life is sadly diminished by his tragic death. We can honor his memory best by following his example, warmly accepting the rich diversity within StarFleet Command SLQ. [14:34] You shout: A moment of silence.. [14:35] You: Honor Guard Chief, Order to Attn [14:36] LKG01A Duke shouts: honor guard.. ATTENTION! [14:36] You: Honor Guard Chief, order the 21 gun salute [14:37] LKG01A Duke shouts: honor guard to arms [14:37] You: 3 gun salute [14:37] LKG01A Duke: aim [14:38] LKG01A Duke: fire [14:38] LKG01A Duke: aim [14:38] LKG01A Duke: fire [14:39] LKG01A Duke: aim [14:39] LKG01A Duke: fire [14:47] Dolamite Giffen: Greetings my fellow Comrades [14:48] Dolamite Giffen shouts: It is with a sad honor i am talking to you all now. [14:48] Dolamite Giffen shouts: Lt.Jg Uralia Was an admired colleague, a dear friend, and a devoted officer. [14:49] Dolamite Giffen: During his time here in SLQ, He helped lay the foundation for our very own justice department. [14:49] Dolamite Giffen shouts: It is with this time and effort that we will now be able to offer many of our members a fair and balanced trial experience. [14:49] Dolamite Giffen: As a counselor he offered many people a rock to base themselves upon when in the group. [14:49] Dolamite Giffen shouts: As a counselor he offered many people a rock to base themselves upon when in the group. [14:49] Dolamite Giffen shouts: He was a seriously devoted man to the ideals of peace, and logic. His guidance and his council will be missed dearly. [14:50] Dolamite Giffen shouts: This occasion reminds us of the times we all have left. During this time, it is important that we treat others respectfully. [14:50] Dolamite Giffen shouts: Because tomorrow is uncertain, but now is time for love, and peace. [14:50] Dolamite Giffen shouts: I speak for the entire group, when i say that we will miss this fine officer. [14:50] Dolamite Giffen shouts: Thank you all, and we offer our condolences to the family. [14:52] Katrina Bixby shouts: Greetings SFC Friends Family Officers and Cadets [14:52] Katrina Bixby: Zander Uralia joined StarFleetCommandSLQ 27 October 2006 with this goal: "To better myself as a starfleet officer" [14:53] Katrina Bixby: He was promoted from Cadet to Ensign Jan 3, 2007 fellow classmate: Rod Halberd [14:53] Katrina Bixby: Feb 19, 2007 he was appointed to the post of Lead Officer of the SFCSLQ - JAG (Judge Advocate General), and promoted to Lt. [14:54] Katrina Bixby: Zander Uralia was an example of service. [14:55] Katrina Bixby: He volunteered his time, effort and energy to help this group. Zander 's actions showed that believed in the members of this group and in the spirit of what Gene Roddenberry envisioned thru StarTrek. His work and example of self sacrifice [14:56] Katrina Bixby shouts: REPEAT TO SHOUT!... Let us, each one of us, examine our own lives, [14:57] Katrina Bixby shouts: and see how we also, can be examples of service to each other and to the ideals of Startrek.
