The Positive Force of Excess Negativity
A pessimist sees the bad in all things, while the optimist always sees the good. I have always considered myself an optimist without really examining why. But I really do know the answer.
When I was young, an elderly and very wise man was consoling me over the death of my youngest brother. He said something to me that made perfect sense and changed my life forever. .
He said, "No matter how bad things seem to get; no matter how big your problems may seem at the moment; always remember one thing: they have not beaten you, and they never will. Think back to every problem you have ever faced in your life. Not one of them has ever beaten you. The problem either went away, got resolved, or stopped being a problem. But no matter how, you are still here."
After the recent terrorist attack on Galaxy, (yes I consider an SL griefer to be exactly the same as a RL terrorist), I began to think about the scientific aspects of such actions.
Electrically speaking the earth we live on is negatively-charged. Like the electron of an atom, its negative charge keeps it a safe distance away from the positively-charged Sun (nucleus). In fact, the negative side of an electrical circuit is called the "ground".
It is also a fact, maybe not well known but a fact still, that electricity flows from negative to positive and not vice-versa. Lightning is no different, as it strikes from the ground (negative earth) up to the clouds (positive) even though what we see does not appear to be so.
The reality is that the flow of electrical force is based upon nature's attempting to balance itself by pushing the excess negative toward the positive. Likewise, a shortage of positive force will have an equal result by pulling from the negative until equilibrium is established.
And this would seem to be a good thing. Balance, equilibrium, and harmony. It is a good thing that the Earth's negative charge keeps us from crashing into the Sun. This is a positive result of a negative force, is it not?
And what about our actions? We see so many negative things in the world, and we wonder if there is anything positive that can come from it. The negative force of famine in some countries motivates many people to take positive actions to feed the hungry.
And now, the negative actions of destroying what was once created in Galaxy, motivates us to start fresh and new; make improvements; and renew our spirit.
Change can be a wonderful thing as it strips away stagnation and permits new growth. In forestry, the undergrowth is burned away to maintain the overall health of the forest.
As we begin this new journey to rebuild our second lives, let us neither criticize nor defend the negative actions that were taken against us, but accept them as an opportunity to become a positive force in our world.
And if what you have read here somehow motivates you to do something great and positive, then I think I have made my point.
