This is mainly for the admirals but if anybody else would like to comment or agree/disagree with this then please do
I know im not in game much these days, cant find any justification for sepending as much time there anymore... specially with out a departmental assignment... well thats not realy the point. i visited Aeon the other day and there were a few people in the sandbox with weapons on display, they didnt exactly refuse to remove them but rather ignored any requests to remove them with somebody stepping in to say their allowed to have guns because theyre the army. the situation well handled and resolved by x.. somebody or other... sorry dont remember his name. The suggestion id like to put forward for consideration is to have signs of some discription, preferably the sim rules next to the Aeon sandbox to let visitors know what the rules are. The reasoning behind my thinking is that visitors arriving in Galaxy then traveling to Aeon may not realise that those rules apply to Aeon, also people may arrive in Aeon to use the sandbox without ever visiting galaxy, which may have been the case the other day. How can we expect outsiders to obide by rules if they dont know what they are.

Shakaar? Not in a Division... thought you joined Engineering? If you are aware we are back with a vengeance. I'll have to contact you, unless you contact me first.
I agree with the rules being on display in Aeon. I can't remember seeing the rules listed there anywhere either.

Not just in Aeon. We need signs posted everywhere (the No-Guns logo is fine). The sign itself could also be a notecard dispenser to give visitors the sims rules. It isn't hard to do, and I'd be happy to help if needed.
The key is that the rules need to be more visible to help support our DO and Security personnel when they point out a violation.
Great Suggestion!

If all visitors arrive in a certain area, they could be given a notecard on arrival. The only problem with that is that whenever any of us arrive in that area we will also recieve it and any other subsequent times we arrive in that area.
Ideally we need a way of distunguishing between new unique visitors to the two sims and issuing a auto-notecard to them. Then they can not complain about not seeing the rules.
This is in addition to the extra signage that would be around.
Shakaar, you might need to chase up on the Security division application I know I applied to them ages ago and not heard anything. If you chase them though it might show your keeness which will always boost their opinion.
Have you considered engineering?

Aye engineering would be cool.. Ill chase security next time im on line thx dont know when thatll be as ive just got into the lord of the rings ol beta stress test... so far my stress levels are through the roof :roflmao: as for the card idea. thats a realy cool idea, i know cards/objects can be given out once to a recipient and im guessing theres a way to check which group they belong to so they can ignore members of SFC-SLQ. but and theres a big butt if theres multiple dispencers then it may not work unless is dispenses notecards with the same uuid. somebody with better lsl experience than I would know... that would be just about everybody

I am personally against the automatic-spam-you-with-a-notecard idea. I have been to many shops and sims that do this and I really find it very annoying. As a Land-Owner myself, I have dealt with this issue in the past. The key is to have a common landing point (like the Plaza) where everyone teleports into. Group members should be able to set their own Landmarks and can use them to tp around the sims. Next, clean up the Plaza around the landing point so there isn't so much clutter, and signs and rules dispensers can be clearly seen. (No offense, but does Research subDivision really need a mailbox in the Plaza? Or would the Applied Sciences building be more appropriate?) Newbs get confused easily, and when things aren't rezzing well, it doesn't help to have a bunch of unnecessary stuff in the way. If it was up to me, the main area of the Plaza would have a large Welcome sign that shows the rules in brief, with instructions to click for a detailed notecard. Near that would be a dispenser for the Visitor's Handbook which would include Sim Rules card, Application for joining the Academy, and a Self-Tour card, (and nothing else). The Plaza would also have an announcements board (like is there now for weekly activities and special events), and the transporter to Infinity Station. Everything else should be cleared out. (The umbrella rack is cute, but when was the last time it rained in SL?). By clearing out clutter, there is less chance that things get overlooked, and it makes it easier to find what you (and visiting newbs) really need. No Weapons Signs / Sim Rules dispensers should be visible on every street from every angle. They don't need to be large and obnoxious, but clearly visible. Visitors will notice them right away, and us residents will get used to seeing them. My father always taught me not to complain about something unless I was prepared to offer a solution. So, if you need my help setting this up I would be happy to oblige.

I was taught that you should throw ideas at the wind. Eventually one with catch and be the right one.
I can see your point and I do agree, the Notecard was just one way of dealing with it.
It was during the General Meeting on sunday that I realised that we might need a common entry point when Doctor Yap logged on to the exactl point he logged off. On the stage during out meeting. I know this will still happen anyway if someon logs of within a sim, but the thought occured then nonetheless.
We might have a problem if everyone was spawning at the same time, for example a mass arrival like for an event or whatever. Also people with homes don't really want to have to arrive at a common location just to get to their home. I also like the convenience of being able to zip into the office dump what i need and zip out, without having to wade through a pool of gatherers that lurk around the plaza that lag the place to hell. But then that could be Linden's fault. I swear I spend more than 1/4 of my SL waiting for logins or TP's to complete
